The “Inter-Cluster Collaboration for Carbon Management” project is supported by the European Commission within the framework of the “Civil Society Action towards European Green Deal” initiative. The project is led by our association, with the collaboration of the Aegean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association and Co.Svi.G. Scrl from Italy. The project’s associates İzmir Development Agency, İz Energy, and the Renewable Energy Association Eurosolar Türkiye.
Our project, which aims to increase the capacities of Civil Society Organisations and exporting or wish to export sectors on Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Carbon Management by transferring good practices from the EU, will be carried out between 2024-2027.
The target group of the project includes Civil Society Organizations in both Türkiye and the EU, companies working in clean energy and iron & steel sectors, and public institutions. The specific objectives of the project are:
● To increase the institutional and operational capacities of Clusters on Carbon Management and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism by transferring the best practices from the EU.
● To prepare the cluster members for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and Carbon Management by increasing their capacities.
● To support the active involvement of Clusters in decision making processes in the preparation of the national legislation in line with EU Green Deal. Activities to be carried out over 3 years:
1.Benchmarking and Experience Sharing Activities
● Study Visits to EU
● Workshops in Türkiye and Italy
● Awareness Raising Trainings
2.Capacity Building Activities
● Trainings and advisory services to cluster members
● Sectoral based focus group meetings
● Preparation of a roadmap for the industry.
3.Legislative Activities
● Visits to Public Authorities and Ministries
● Focus Group Meeting with Public Authorities and representatives from Ministries
● Preparation of a strategy document and a recommendation document
● International Conference and Summit Expected Outcomes of the Project:
● Improvement and development of the organizational and institutional capacities of clusters on “Carbon Management” and “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism” in line with the EU Green Deal.
● Increased sectoral cooperation between Türkiye and the European Union.
● Transfer of best practices from the EU to Türkiye and exchange of knowledge between the countries.
● Supporting the active participation of clusters in legislative and decision-making processes for the preparation of legislation in line with the EU Green Deal.
